Tips To Improve Your Weld-on Carbide Teeth Performance

Weld-on carbide teeth are indisputably some of the best performing types of teeth in the drilling works. Whether you are doing poling or foundation drilling, these are teeth can deliver excellent output. However, just like the rest of the industrial wear parts, weld on carbide teeth are also prone to wear and abrasion. The two are also the leading causes of low performance of the drilling equipment. Shank Sharpening

The most important part of the weld-on carbide tooth is the shank. That is the part that will do the actual cutting, and thus prone to a high rate of wear down. They will become dull or blunt and making it difficult to grind the soil effectively. In such cases, the production of the drilling equipment may go down thus a reduction in performance. There are different ways that you can get the shank back in shape. The most effective way to achieve this is by sharpening the carbide shank to regain its original condition. The best way to go about this is sharpening the tip using a grinder. However, this method requires that you get some skills or have someone do it for you.

Replacement of the Carbide Tip

Just like the rest of the carbide teeth may have their tip removed and replaced with a new one,  the same is to the weld on carbide teeth. Although they do not have the same joint (welded joint) as the rest of the carbide teeth, it does not mean the tip cannot be replaced. If the carbide shank is beyond repair, then you should consider having it replaced. However, this can only be done by a specialized technician. By replacing the worn down carbide tip with a new one, the teeth will be entirely new. That should improve the performance of the drilling equipment.
